This wonderful holiday spot is situated just outside of Tromsø and offers stunning views over the sea, to Bentsjordtinden Mountain and over to the Malangen Peninsula. You will have plenty of opportunities for both active and tranquil holiday experiences. You are guaranteed to catch fish in the Rystraumen tidal current and there are great hiking trails close by.
Larseng Kystferie opened on 1 May 2014, and is run by Trine Hilbertsen and her husband Geir Mørk, who also works here when he’s home from sea. As a Sea Captain, Geir works on a rotation of four weeks at sea and four weeks at home. Larseng Kystferie is situated at Geir’s ancestral home, which has been in his family for generations. Geir’s family always had a small farm with cows, sheep and chickens, and the man of the house would also work as a fisherman to supplement the family income.
Before we had tractors, the family’s horses did all the hardest work in the fields and in the woods. We took over the farm many years ago and, while we don’t keep animals, a farmer uses our land to grow his crops. We love living in this wonderful place, where we can fish for our dinner right outside our door. The area is calm and quiet, and you can sit outside your door and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere that reigns here. In the summer, you can walk up into the woods and pick wild berries and mushrooms if you like.
In the winter, you can put on your skis right outside the door and ski up into the forest, and you can sit up on the mountain or down at the shoreline and experience the fantastic Northern Lights whenever they appear. A few days here with us is a balm for the soul. We want others to experience this wonderful place. That’s why we started welcoming tourists here.
Our facilities are of a very high standard and most of the houses was recently renovated.
